What is RYLA?
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a program that originated with Rotary International. RYLA encourages leadership in youth by recognizing and rewarding deserving students who are chosen to attend RYLA as an “award” for their past and present leadership and service activities. These select young people attend a camp where they are inspired by a diverse group of exceptional speakers, make life-long friends through fellowship activities, and discuss the ethical and social issues of today. These activities are conducted in an atmosphere of trust and respect. The result is that these youths return to their institutions and communities motivated to take on additional leadership roles and to find additional ways to serve. RYLA’s intent is to encourage youth to be more effective leaders.
RYLA is an intensive training programme for young community leaders. Young people with leadership potential and desire are chosen for this programme conducted by Rotary. The young leaders across the globe attend this programme to develop their leadership attributes to become effective leaders in the community. Through this programme Rotary helps them to use their leadership potential to use it a in a structured manner for effective leadership. This has many positive impacts on the youth. They gain self-confidence & sharpen their valuable skills, which ultimately help them to secure a well trenched future.
